Grain or Bead Setting

The grain or bead setting is a great way of setting tiny diamonds and a popular way to some sparkle to a ring.

A diamond grain setting are diamonds held within grains of metal that are worked from the ring to hold each diamond in a precise way.

In detail, a depression is drilled into the ring and the diamond laid into the recess. A special tool is then used to raise a sliver or grain from the ring top and then pushed over the edge of each stone. The setter then uses another specialised tool to round off the grains to give a beaded affect.

This type of setting has a slightly old world look to it, making it a popular choice for those that like antique style jewellery.
